MISSION STATEMENT: St. Charles Parish School in Hartland, Wisconsin nourishes and grows a vibrant Catholic community committed to innovation, responsiveness and compassion as it prepares and challenges students in their intellectual, spiritual and moral lives.
Our junior-high choir Schola Cantorum sang for the Feast of the Epiphany Mass for Heart of the Nation, which aired on
Sunday, January 2!
Heart of the Nation Ministries helps those who are sick and/or home bound maintain access to Catholic Masses around the world. The video has over 28,000 views so far and many positive comments, including from Italy!
Heart of the Nation is already asking when the choir can sing next.
We are so proud of these young music ministers!
NEWS & NOTES
COVID Update: We currently have two students at home in isolation due to testing positive for COVID-19. Additionally, we have two students in quarantine due to being considered close contacts outside of St. Charles. Please remember to continue monitoring your child's health daily and keep your kids home if they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or are not feeling well. We are grateful for all of your prayers and support for our students, staff, and school community!

Chick-fil-A Lunch: The Home and School Association will be hosting a Chick-fil-A lunch fundraiser on Wednesday, January 12! Please print off the order form and turn it in by tomorrow, January 7.

MAP Testing: Students in 5K-8th Grade will be taking MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) Tests in reading and math this Winter. This test measures both academic achievement and growth throughout the year. Our window for Winter testing is Tuesday, January 11 through Wednesday, January 26. Your child's teacher will communicate specific testing dates for their class. Individual Progress Reports will be sent home in early February. For more information about MAP Testing, visit the NWEA MAP Testing Parent Toolkit.

Knights of Columbus Thank-You: We are extremely grateful to the Knights of Columbus for their recent donation to help us expand our literacy resources. Their generosity will allow us to purchase various text selections to support thematic novel book clubs. This instructional method allows for students to explore a selected theme within a small group, using a text that is appropriately challenging for them. Book Club themes will explore characterization, mystery, historical fiction, argument/advocacy and fantasy/dystopias. A big thank-you to Mike Voss and all of the Knights for their continued support of St. Charles School!

Open House Volunteers: We are excited to host our annual Open House on Sunday, January 23! Are you interested in welcoming new families to St. Charles? We would love your help with greeting and/or giving tours that day! Please visit our sign-up page to see what opportunities we have available. Please email Allison Caswell with any questions.

Volunteer Opportunities: We are in need of help in our lunch room and health room! Please visit the Lunch Room sign-up page and the Health Room sign-up page to check out open opportunities. Parents must be safeguarded and have a current background check (from within the last five years) in order to volunteer. Please contact the School Office if you are unsure of your status.
REMINDERS
Penny Wars: Beginning Monday, January 10 through Friday, January 14, each classroom will partake in a Penny Wars fundraiser in support of our Auction on Saturday, February 26! Class jars will be placed outside the School Office for students to participate. Have your child bring pennies for their classroom as well as silver coins and dollar bills to sabotage other rooms. The classroom with the most pennies wins a doughnut breakfast party. Let the Penny Wars begin!

Wall panels will be installed during this time, and huge delivery trucks will be using this lot. If your child is arriving late/leaving early or if you are coming to volunteer, please park on the street and enter through our Borromeo Room doors. Evening events and weekend activities will not be affected. Please contact the School Office with any questions!
