The Weekly Rundown

MISSION STATEMENT: St. Charles Parish School in Hartland, Wisconsin nourishes and grows a vibrant Catholic community committed to innovation, responsiveness and compassion as it prepares and challenges students in their intellectual, spiritual and moral lives.

Parents and Students,

Our 2019 St. Charles Parish School Spring Concert is TONIGHT! I am very excited to see our students perform, especially with some new instruments. Please note that doors will open at 6 pm and we ask that you not enter the gym before this time. Students should report to their classrooms by 6 pm.

Our Very Important Person Day (formerly known as Grandparents Day) is set for Friday, May 3. Students are welcome to Dress Up for this event in their school uniform or a nice outfit. Please no shorts because this is a Mass day.

VIP Day is one of the best days of the year because we show off our school to family members and friends. The morning begins with Mass at 8:30 am followed by a light breakfast in the Borromeo Room. Students then show their VIP guests all around the school making stops at the 4th Grade Folk Fair in the Parish Hall, the library, classrooms, the Science Fair display, gym and much more. I'm looking forward to meeting our students' special guests.

Our 2nd Graders have been learning about and preparing to receive their First Holy Communion this Sunday, May 5th and the following Sunday, May 12th. As a school community, we are excited to witness this next step in their faith journey. Both Masses are at 1:30 pm. Please join us in celebration of our faith.

Your son is invited to join Cub Scouts! Pack 24 is chartered by St. Charles Catholic Church. Our pack is recruiting boys in 4K through 4th Grade on Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 pm. Cub Scouts provides a wide range of exciting activities. The Cub Scout program is designed to positively influence character development and encourage spiritual growth. The boys will develop habits and attitudes of good citizenship, sportsmanship, and improve understanding within the family. Cub Scouting fosters a sense of personal achievement by showing how to be helpful and to do one=E2=80=99s best. Most of all, Cub Scouting provides boys fun and exciting new things to do! The boys will learn more during school on May 15th. Parents are asked to come that evening between 6:30 and 7:30 pm in the Parish Hall to learn more and to enroll in our program.  If you are unable to join, please contact Rebecca Susa Newman, recruiting coordinator, at rebeccasusa@gmail.com or Brion Collins, Cubmaster, at cubmaster@hartlandpack24.org.

Finally, I am excited to announce that our new Key Fob System and six new security cameras have been installed! Our team made quick work over Easter Break to get these new security measures installed to enhance the safety and security of our school. As I mentioned earlier in the school year, we received grant money ($16,453) from the Department of Justice from the School Safety Initiative, which was used to purchase and install the Key Fob System. This year=E2=80=99s Crusader Challenge at the Auction and Dinner allowed us to purchase six new security cameras and reposition a few existing cameras. Our number one priority is the safety and security of our children.

And now a word from several of our 7th Graders:

Hello, this is Hannah Jochman, Rachael Borg and Kate Krueger. We recently conducted a fundraiser on Tuesday, April 16th for the Heifer Organization to raise money for less fortunate families in Africa. Students and staff donated at least $1 to help purchase chicks, ducks, and goslings which support suffering families. We are happy to announce that together with the St. Charles students and staff, we raised a total of $620! This money was enough to buy animals for 10 different families. We doubled our original goal of $300! We are so grateful for all of the donations we received. Thank you so much for your wonderful donations! We hope you know that you have helped numerous families in many ways! Thank you so much!

Following His plan,
Mr. Garvey
