The Weekly Rundown
MISSION STATEMENT: St. Charles Parish School in Hartland, Wisconsin nourishes and grows a vibrant Catholic community committed to innovation, responsiveness and compassion as it prepares and challenges students in their intellectual, spiritual and moral lives.
Parents and Students,
It=E2=80=99s an exciting time at St. Charles right now as we have a ton of great things happening. Academic achievement, musicals, band concerts, track meets, and science fairs ... oh my! Please read through and enjoy all the positive and wonderful things our students are doing!
Tornado Drill: Due to potential severe weather in our area Thursday, the statewide tornado drill has been postponed one day until Friday, April 12th at 1:45 pm.
Willy Wonka, Jr.: Where do I begin?!! What an amazing show! Our kiddos did a phenomenal job and I am so proud of them and our school. Experiencing God=E2=80=99s gifts in action was inspiring, emotional, and amazing. A HUGE thank you to Kathryn Mooers from Lake Country Playhouse and Gregg Brunclik and his crew from Clearwing Productions for making this an event for all to remember. I would also like to thank all of the parents for your work, support, and help for the past couple of months. We would not have been able to do it without you! I also want to point out Mrs. Christina Holmes for coordinating and being the point person by making sure all the dots were connected and ensuring the success of the musical production. Awesome teamwork!
Science Fair: The Science Fair was a hit and our students, once again, didn=E2=80=99t hold back from showing what they can do. I was fortunate enough to be asked to be a judge and I was able to witness first hand the authenticity of the learning process. Students not only had to research, experiment, and report out their results, they also had to discuss, answer questions, and present their project to an adult. Listening to the students and experiencing their excitement with what they learned or disproved was fascinating. Thank you to Mrs. Grolemund for her work with the students -- the organizing, coordinating and setting up the Science Fair, and for providing students with this amazing experience. A shout-out to all the teachers for being flexible and creative with the schedule so that all students could enjoy the work of their peers.

Band Fest: Our band students totally rocked it out at Band Fest on Tuesday, April 9th! It was great to see three schools (St. Charles, St. Anthony on the Lake, and St. Jerome) come together and perform such wonderful music. I can=E2=80=99t say it enough ... our students are so unbelievably talented! Speaking of talent, our band director, Mrs. Connie Fellows, has got it going on! How do you take three different schools, numerous different groups of students and band levels, and all come together and perform at such a high level?!! She is A-MAZ-ING! Thank you Mrs. Fellows for your work with our students and your dedication to music education!
Track Meet: Our track team is off and running and are wasting no time picking up some hardware. This past weekend our All School Relay team took home 1st place at the Waukesha Catholic Indoor Track Meet! Congratulations to Gregory Brunclik (6th), Natalie Thousand (6th), Gabe Matyas (7th), Maddie Solwold (7th), Jacob Fink (8th), Clare Zussman (8th), and Coach Mariah Nelson for representing St. Charles and winning 1st place! Great job!
Eggs 4 Easter Fundraiser: And now a quick message from some 7th Graders --
Hello, we are Kate, Hannah, and Rachael. We are 7th Graders at St. Charles. After writing our Social Studies research paper on Catholic Social Teachings, we realized that people around the world, especially in Africa, are less fortunate than us. We want to do something to support these families. After a little research, we learned that the Heifer International Organization supports families in Africa who are struggling. Heifer will send these families an animal they can use to support themselves.
For Almsgiving this Lent, we would like to fundraise to purchase chicks/ducks/goslings to support less fortunate families. These animals can fertilize farms, produce eggs which the families can sell, and can provide nutrition. We are asking for donations to raise money to purchase animals. We are hoping that the students will bring in their own money, rather than asking their parents. All students who bring in $1 or more will receive a Dress Down Pass for Tuesday, April 16th. Please bring your money on Tuesday, April 16. With your help, we can hopefully buy chickens/ducks/goslings for those in need. Our goal is to raise $300, enough to buy chickens/ducks/goslings for 5 families in need. Thank you so much for your support! Have a blessed Easter.
--- Kate, Hannah, and Rachael
Following His plan,
Mr. Garvey
