The Weekly Rundown

Parents and Students,
I=E2=80=99m not sure where the month of March went, but we are moving full speed ahead into April and we are looking forward to Easter Break which begins at 11:45 am on Holy Thursday, April 18. Our break this year lasts until Sunday, April 28 and we will see everyone back at school on Monday, April 29.
Between now and our Easter Break we have a ton of great things happening and many upcoming events so please read through everything in the Weekly Rundown and Week Ahead emails. We don't want your kids or you to miss out.
* Lenten Penance Service: This Friday, March 29, we will be having our Lenten Penance Service starting at 10:30 am in the Church. We are blessed to offer this opportunity to our students, as well as having extra priests on hand to hear confessions. This is a very important act of our faith, especially during the Lenten season. Please join us as we come together in a time of reflection and reconciliation.
* Guest Speaker: Also on Friday, March 29th, The Miracle Hunter Michael O=E2=80=99Neill will be speaking with our 5th through 8th Grade students. Michael O=E2=80=99Neill is a regular on Relevant Radio and has been on numerous national television shows. He will be a guest speaker at the Men of Christ Conference on Saturday, March 30th, but will be stopping by St. Charles for a quick visit and talk with our students! A huge thank you to Kevin O=E2=80=99Brien for making this happen.
* School Musical: We are getting closer to the long-awaited performances of our Spring Musical Willy Wonka Jr.! Our students have been rehearsing and working so hard in preparation for the three shows. Stop by the Parish Office weekdays between 8 am and 4 pm to buy your tickets! * Science Fair: I am very much looking forward to seeing our middle school students=E2=80=99 Science Fair Projects that they worked so hard to complete. Projects will be set up in the Borromeo Room starting on Tuesday, April 2nd and will be on display through the weekend of April 6 & 7 and until Monday, April 8th. Join us for the Science Fair Open House at 2:30 pm on April 8. A big thank you to Middle School Science Teacher Mrs. Grolemund for all her guidance and support of our students, as well as the extra work to get all of these projects set up for us to enjoy.
* Band Fest: On Tuesday, April 9th, our beginning and advanced band students will be taking part in the 4th Annual Lake Country Catholic Schools Band Fest run by our band instructor Connie Fellows. Band students from St. Charles will perform at St. Anthony=E2=80=99s on the Lake in the morning at 10:15 am and then come to St. Charles for an afternoon performance at 1 pm. A third performance will take place in the evening on Wednesday, April 10th at 6:30 pm at St. Jerome=E2=80=99s. We are very much looking forward to seeing our band students perform with our fellow Lake Country Catholic schools.
On another note we are very excited and proud to announce that our band director Connie Fellows is being celebrated and honored for her work in music education. She is being recognized at the Civic Music Educator Awards Ceremony this Saturday evening at the Marcus Center for Performing Arts and will receive a Certificate of Excellence in Instrumental Music! Congratulations Connie and thank you for everything you do for St. Charles.
Also in the spotlight is our Music Teacher Ms. Jeanne Marie Stalteri who won a $500 award from the Wisconsin Federation of Music Clubs. She was nominated by Kathleen Latzke-Daley, St. Charles Parish Associate Musician. The money will go toward music items for the classroom. It was a nice and well-deserved surprise for Ms. Stalteri.
* Recess Equipment: Many thanks to the Homberg and Wantoch Families for their recent donations of recess equipment. We now have three new soccer balls (Wantoch) and seven new Chinese jump ropes (Homberg). Thank you so much for introducing new games and equipment to our students! We appreciate you!

Pizza Lunch Set For April 11: The final Pizza Lunch for the School Year is scheduled for Thursday, April 11. This is the last fundraiser for the 8th Grade class and students and parents have spent the last two years raising money for graduation and legacy gifts for the parish and school. New this time around is that parents can pre-order baked goods from the bake sale when they are placing the pizza order. Please note that the deadline to order pizza and treats is Monday, April 8. Please be prompt because after April 8 orders will not be accepted. Click HERE for the order form. Also just a reminder that there is no hot lunch offered on this day -- only the pizza.
Paper Needed: Thank you to everyone who has donated much-needed supplies of band-aids and Kleenex in recent weeks. We are set until the end of the school year. What we really need now is paper. If you are so inclined to donate, please drop off paper in the School Office. Thank you in advance for your help!
Golf Outing Returns: Save the Date for the 19th Annual St Charles Parish and School Golf Outing to be held Sunday, June 2 at Ironwood Golf Course to support Athletics. Lenten Events: Come to the Rosary Group in the Life Teen Cafe on Wednesday, April 3 at 8:30 am. Recite the rosary with other parents and then head out the door to face your day by 9 am. It's a wonderful way to pray with others for our school, our students and each other.
Also, the Traveling Rosary, which moves from house to house each week, is in need of more homes. Learn more and sign up HERE. There are some weeks available between now and the end of the school year so please volunteer to take a week.
Spring Musical Willy Wonka Jr: Save the weekend of April 6 & 7 for performances of Willy Wonka Jr. on the St. Charles stage. There is a cast of 50 kids who have been rehearsing for weeks and are excited to bring this musical to St. Charles. The performances are at 11 am and 6:30 pm on Saturday and 12:30 pm on Sunday. Tickets are available in the Parish Office weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm and they are also available at the door before each performance. Learn more HERE!
Summer Camps and Plans: Do you have plans for the summer for your kids? There are lots of options for kids with camps, classes and activities. Marquette, Divine Savior Holy Angels and Catholic Memorial High School offer a wide range of camps and classes.
A simple list has been created on the school website as a resource guide for parents. St. Charles does not endorse any of the camps and is simply providing information. Click HERE to learn more about the classes.
SCRIP Delivery: There will be no orders placed the week of April 1. Orders placed by Sunday, April 7 will be delivered by Friday, April 12. Orders placed by Sunday, April 14 will be delivered by Thursday, April 18 which is a half-day and leads into Easter Break.

Library Volunteer Opportunities: Some changes have been made on the Library SignUp Genius and there are new opportunities. Click HERE to sign up for shifts. Also, if you would like to volunteer during your child's library class, but it is not listed in the Sign Up Genius, email Mrs. Acker date(s) and class(es) you would like and she will make it happen!
Tuition Rebate Information: With tax season upon us don't forget to deduct private school tuition. The information is on the school website under Parent Resources. Please click HERE to read it and find out how to deduct tuition for students in 5K through 8th Grade.
Weekend Performances: Marquette University High School Prep Players Presents Newsies. Performances are Friday, March 29 through Sunday, March 31 in the O'Rourke Performing Arts Hall. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.showtix4u.com.
