Parents and Students,
Thank you to all of you who shared your unwavering support, positive thoughts, and words of encouragement this week in regards to the unfortunate situation that occurred on Monday. I sincerely appreciate how our community came together in this situation. In addition, we have received glowing remarks from the Hartland Police Department and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in how this difficult situation was handled and is continuing to be handled.
Your child=E2=80=99s safety and well-being is our number one priority and we take that responsibility very seriously. St. Charles Parish School provides a safe learning environment and the actions of the school and staff on Monday reinforces that point. Please be assured that there is no continuing safety concern at St. Charles and that the incident from Monday is being handled appropriately and in consultation with law enforcement and the Archdiocese. Thank you for your trust in moving forward.

Auction Ticket Sales: Have you bought your auction tickets?!! Please join us for a wonderful evening to celebrate St. Charles Parish School. The deadline is rapidly approaching and I would love to see you there! The deadline for ticket purchase is Saturday, Feb. 23. Click here to learn more about the auction and purchase your tickets now! Also raffle tickets are on sale this weekend: Buy a raffle ticket to win $3,000 in cash or a year of tuition at St. Charles Parish School. Raffle tickets will be sent home this week and also sold after Masses the weekends of Feb. 23 & 24 and March 2 & 3. Tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100. The winning ticket will be pulled at the Auction. Winner does not need be present to win!

MAP Testing (5K-8th): Our winter MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) test results were sent home Wednesday with your child. We are incredibly excited for our students and the progress they have made so far this school year. Please look them over and discuss with your child. If you have any questions regarding your child=E2=80=99s test results, please see your teacher.

Staff Appreciation Lunch: Many thanks to Mrs. Jessup, Mrs. Carroll and the entire HSA Hospitality Team for the amazing and delicious lunch they served to the school and paish staff on Tuesday. These parents continue to raise the bar every time they treat us to lunch or breakfast. We are blessed to be spoiled by such wonderful families.

State of the School Address: Thursday, Feb. 21st at 6:30 pm will be our State of the School Address in the STEM Room. Please join us as we will discuss where St. Charles School is currently and where we are going.

Hello families,
I wanted to let you know about some upcoming parenting events that may be of interest to you.
On Thursday, Feb 28 from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center (at Sussex Hamilton HS), Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg will present "Building Resilience in Children & Teens.=E2=80=9D As one of the nation=E2=80=99s leading authorities on Child and Adolescent Resilience, Dr. Ginsburg opens his tool kit and offers practical ideas and step-by-step, concrete strategies for building resilience in our children by developing Competence, Confidence, Connection, Character, Contribution, Coping and Control. These preventive strength-building strategies may make young people less likely to turn to the quick easy fixes we fear, drugs, self-harm and eating disorders, among others. You need a free ticket to attend the event. Tickets may be reserved here.
As a follow up to this event, I will be leading a 3 part discussion on Dr. Ginsburg=E2=80=99s book, "Raising Kids to Thrive: Balancing Love with Expectations and Protection with Trust." This will be held at St. Charles in the School Resource Room on Mondays March 4, 11 & 18 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. To RSVP for this group, please email me at sdelmore@stcharleshartland.org. Dance-a-Thon One Day Away: We're excited to dance with our students on Friday afternoon for the Second Annual Crusader Challenge Dance-a-Thon! Remember to dress your kids in Western wear to celebrate the day. Pledges are still being accepted and students who return envelopes to the School Office by Thursday, Feb. 21 will receive one raffle ticket for the movie basket. How To Help Your Anxious Child: Parents, parishioners, family and friends are invited to an educational talk about childhood anxiety on Sunday, Feb. 24 given by Dr. Jeffrey Karst, a pediatric psychologist at Children=E2=80=99s Hospital of Wisconsin and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The talk, sponsored by the Home and School Association, is free and begins at 7:15 pm in the Borromeo Room. Learn more HERE.
Communion Clothing Drive: St. Charles Parish and School is collecting First Holy Communion clothing that will be donated to families at St. Anthony School in Milwaukee. Do you have communion dresses, veils, suits, pants, shirts and other accessories that you would be willing to pass along to other families? The Communion Clothing Drive takes place Saturday, March 9 through Sunday, March 17. During the weekends drop off the clothing to the Parish Hall; during the week please drop off in the School Office or the Parish Office. Thank you for your kind generosity. Basketball Games This Weekend: We're down to the LAST weekend of basketball at St. Charles for 2019. The 5th Grade Girls (Alexander) play on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 9 am and the other 5th Grade Girls team (Bortolotti) play at 10 am on Saturday. The 7th Grade Girls Team plays at 11 am in the gym. On Sunday, Feb. 24, the 6th Grade Boys Teams plays at 12 pm. Go Crusaders!

Box Tops Contest: Turn in all Box Tops to your child's teacher by Monday, Feb. 25. This is a classroom competition and the class with the most Box Tops receives a special treat. Make sure your Box Tops are in a plastic bag with the class name on the front.
Let The School Office Know: If you are reporting an absence for your child or picking up your child early for an appointment, we kindly ask that you email the teacher and the School Office at school@stcharleshartland.org. Our job is to keep our students safe throughout the day and the School Office needs to know when they are leaving or arriving back to school. Thank you in advance for your help!
