The Weekly Rundown -- Polar Vortex Edition
MISSION STATEMENT: St. Charles Parish School in Hartland, Wisconsin nourishes and grows a vibrant Catholic community committed to innovation, responsiveness and compassion as it prepares and challenges students in their intellectual, spiritual and moral lives.
Parents and Students,
I hope everyone has enjoyed the extra family time this week! However, I am sure many of you are ready to get the kids back to school!
We will see everyone on Friday, Feb. 1 for our All-School Mass at St. Josaphat Basilica at 9:30 am. The buses are scheduled to leave St. Charles around 8:45 am. If you would like to join us for Mass, please meet us at the Basilica. Students in 4K through 8th Grade will attend the Mass. We ask them to wear red shirts with khaki pants or skirts or plaid skirts as we will take an all-school photo at the Basilica.
In regards to the rest of the Catholic Schools Week activities and Dress Down Days that were canceled because of the weather, our staff members will work to hopefully reschedule the events, including the Second Annual Crusader Challenge Dance-a-Thon. Please stay tuned! We are also receiving information from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to determine if the canceled days will need to be made up during the school year. I will keep you posted as I learn the specifics.
A couple of final Catholic Schools Week activities you can help with on Friday is bringing in supplies for Birthday Bags. Each teacher assigned supplies to students in her class. The items will be part of the Birthday Bags that will be given to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Bring in the supplies on Friday.
Also students are welcome to bring in cans of soup for our Soup-er Bowl where they place the cans in front of a sign for the Los Angeles Rams or the New England Patriots -- depending on who they think will win the Super Bowl. All soup will be donated to the Food Pantry next week.
Finally, if you have a couple of minutes read this column by Archbishop Jerome Listecki about Catholic Schools Week and Catholic education. It's an inspiring piece that brings home the value and importance of Catholic education.

Re-enrollment: Enrollment is growing and going very well for the 2019-2020 school year! Our classrooms are robust and we are excited for new families already joining St. Charles. If you are planning to re-enroll, but haven=E2=80=99t done so yet, please refer to the email you received from TADS on Dec 20. Email me if you need me to resend the enrollment instructions. Thank you for the privilege of serving you and your family and allowing us the opportunity to educate your child(ren) in 2019-2020!
One Housekeeping Item: With all the canceled days there have been questions about the hot lunch menu and what will be served on which day. As a general rule if there is a canceled day of school, the hot lunch scheduled for that canceled day will be served the next day students are back in school. However, please note that hot lunch on Friday, Feb. 1 is pizza.
Following His plan,
Mr. Garvey
