Happy Easter! It seems like Spring is finally upon us.
I hope everyone enjoyed the week away from school and there was time for reflection on our Lenten journey and the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus. My family and I were blessed to attend an outdoor sunrise service with my parents. The morning started out with only candle light and we heard the story of the apostles running to find an empty tomb as the sun was rising. It was quite touching and we are blessed to have such an amazing tradition each year.
The campus has been very busy this week as students get prepared for a couple of big performances next week.
First, our Beginning and Advanced Bands will join the St. Jerome and St. Anthony bands for our 3rd Lake Country Band Fest.
On Tuesday, April 17, all the bands will meet and have a school performance at St. Anthony in the morning. All students will travel and have lunch at St. Jerome, and then they will perform in the afternoon for the St. Jerome's community.
On Thursday evening, April 19, all the bands will perform at St. Charles. We are very proud to have an amazing band program led by Mrs. Connie Fellows. We are excited to see our students show off all they have learned and to share their gifts and talents.
Another group practicing and sharing their gifts are students in the production of "Godspell Jr." The students have been rehearsing, singing and dancing for several weeks and they will perform on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22. Tickets are on sale in the Parish Office. I'm looking forward to seeing this production as I know it's been a great undertaking and I know our students will shine.

Invitations For VIP Day Guests
We're making plans for the 2018 VIP Day (also referred to as Grandparents' Day) and we would like to mail printed invitations to our students' guests. Please email the names of guests and addresses for each guest to Christina Holmes, and we will drop an invitation into the mail. Thank you for your help.
Our VIP Day on Friday, May 4 is shaping up to be a memorable event with the celebration of Mass, a continental breakfast, classroom and library tours, the 4th Grade Folk Fair, Middle School Science Projects on Display and the first-ever Art Show. We look forward to seeing our special guests.
Screen Time Logs Due Monday, April 16
A quick reminder to return Screen Time Logs on Monday, April 16. Please send them to the School Office or scan the sheet and email it to Guidance Counselor Mrs. Delmore.
This school-wide project encourages students to track screen time outside of school for one week. This simple activity helps encourage students to become more aware of the time spent on computers and other devices. We would like to find out how many hours a day they are spending on screens.
For one week, students record the amount of time spent each day =E2=80=94 outside of school =E2=80=94 on screens. Mrs. Delmore will collect the record sheets and then have classroom discussions about what students learned. Were they surprised by the amount of time spent on screens after school and in the evening? Do they feel differently when they are on a screen versus reading a book, playing a game or engaging in physical activity? How does screen use impact their relationships?
Please record or if old enough have your child record screen use (outside of school) from Monday, April 9 until Sunday, April 16. A copy of the log to record the minutes is here.

Starting Monday, April 16 and remaining until the end of the school year: Students are welcome to wear khaki or blue shorts as part of their uniforms. Please no shorts on Mass days.
Tuesday, April 17: Early Release Day for Teacher InService. Students in 5K through 8th Grade will be released at 11:45 am and students in 3K and 4K will be released at their regular time of 11:30 am.
Wednesday, April 18: Middle School students present Science Fair Projects to judges.
Thursday, April 19: Band Fest at St. Charles. Students who play in Advanced and Beginning Bands will perform for students at 1:15 pm. The evening performance of Band Fest takes place at 6:30 pm at St. Charles. All are welcome to listen to our talented students.
Friday, April 20: ADORE Family Holy Hour. Come spend time in Eucharistic Adoration with your family. Adoration begins at 6:30 pm followed by refreshments and play time in the gym at 7:30 pm. Click here for more information.
Saturday & Sunday, April 21 & 22: St. Vincent de Paul donation truck will be on the premises to collect clothes, small appliances, electronics (but not TVs) and other household items. Read more about drop off times here.

Donate Dresses & Accessories To Students From St. Anthony School In Milwaukee
We're hoping to make Prom Night special for St. Anthony High School students by donating gently used prom dresses and other fancy clothes the young girls can wear to this special event. Also accepted are purses, formal shoes and other accessories. The dresses will be brought to Milwaukee and given to the girls. For specifics and more information, click here. Thank you for your help!
First Lego League Robotics Team Open House
Attention parents and students: Stop by the Borromeo Room on Monday, April 23 during the Science Fair Open House from 2:30 pm to 3:45 pm and check out the display for the First Lego League Robotics Team. Members will be on hand to answer questions and there will be a short presentation at 3:30 pm. Discover what it takes to be part of the robotics team. St. Charles Students Perform "Godspell Jr." Next Weekend
Mark your calendar for April 21 & 22 to see performances of "Godspell Jr." by our own St. Charles actors and actresses. Students in 2nd through 8th grades have been rehearsing for weeks and they will be ready to perform at 6:30 pm on Saturday, April 21 and 2 pm on Sunday, April 22 on the stage in the gym. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Tickets go on sale April 10 in the Parish Office. Come support our students and take in a show!
Student Greeters Needed For "Godspell Jr."
We're looking for students who would like to greet guests for the "Godspell Jr." play on April 21 & 22. Greeters would welcome guests to the gym and help them find seats. Three Students In Milwaukee Production Of Beauty And The Beast
Sixth Grader Hannah Jochman and 4th Graders Lila Jochman and Grace Jochman have been cast in the upcoming production of Miwaukees Ballet's "Beauty and the Beast." Hannah was cast as a Rose and Grace and Lila were cast as Orphans. The performance times are:

Extra Help Needed In Lunchroom and Playground In April And May
One of our lunchroom and playground aides will be out of town in April and May and we are looking for parent volunteers to help cover the shifts. Each shift runs from 11:30 am to 1 pm and the duties include lunch time prep, lunchroom help and recess help. The volunteer would be inside the lunch room from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm and then outdoors from 12:15 pm to 1 pm. Volunteers are needed each weekday from April 25 through May 15. Denny Stadler, our longtime custodian who keeps St. Charles Parish School tidy and clean along with his wife Terrie and several others in his crew, is one of 10 finalists for Janitor of the Year by Cintas.
Denny is the lead janitor at Lake Country School and works at that school in the mornings and afternoons before coming to St. Charles later in the afternoons. His nomination was submitted by Lake Country School.
Denny is one of 3,200 nominees nationwide and the only Top 10 nominee from Wisconsin. Cintas judges were impressed with the nominees who "who stuck out not only because they do their job exceedingly well but because they have left a positive and lasting impact on their schools. These finalists redefine what it means to be a school janitor.=E2=80=9D

Marquette University High School Summer EXPLORE! - Summer Programs for Boys Grades 5-9
Registration is open for Marquette High's Summer EXPLORE! Programs - summer camps designed to provide learning and social opportunities for boys from all schools entering 5th through 9th Grades. Classes are offered in computer science, history, science, German, visual arts and multi-discipline (academics/arts/athletics). Marquette Summer Sport Camps Offered
Marquette University High School offers a variety of sports and performance camps for all boys in 3rd through 9th Grades as well as current MUHS student athletes. Programs are taught by MUHS coaches and fitness staff. Camps include basketball, football, hockey, soccer, volleyball, wrestling and performance. Play Tennis With Junior Crusaders At Catholic Memorial
The Catholic Memorial High School Tennis Program has run a tennis club the last two years for middle schoolers at Waukesha Catholic. This year the program will expand to several other local Catholic schools and CMH student-athletes will to serve others through the middle school program.
When: On Sundays, April 15, 22 & 29 and May 6 & 20 from 3 pm to 4 pm.
Where: Heyer Park in Waukesha. Meet at the shed.
What to bring: A tennis racquet and water and wear athletic apparel. If you do not have a racquet, let Coach Jeff Mrochinski know through email or a phone call at 414-510-6939.
To reserve a spot, parents should contact Coach Mrochinski through email or text with their child's name, grade, school and tennis experience (beginner, can keep a rally or match play experience).
There is no charge to families so all children in 6th, 7th and 8th grades are welcome!
Register Today For Jr. Crusader Football
The 2018 season runs Aug. 1 through Oct. 30. All practice and game equipment will be provided and all practices will be at Catholic Memorial High School. Ths is a full contact youth tackle football program for boys entering 5th through 8th grades with an emphasis on player skill development and education.
