The Weekly Rundown

MISSION STATEMENT: St. Charles Parish School in Hartland, Wisconsin nourishes and grows a vibrant Catholic community committed to innovation, responsiveness and compassion as it prepares and challenges students in their intellectual, spiritual and moral lives.

Happy Advent Everyone!

Our Advent Concert is tonight!!! Please join us in the gym at 6:30 pm. Students need to report to their classroom by 6 pm. Music teacher Ms. Stalteri and the students have been working hard to prepare for an engaging and wonderful evening of music and celebration. Looking forward to seeing you there! Doors to the gym open at 6 pm and seating is first come, first served.

Other Important Announcements:

Spanish Classes in 2019: I am pleased to share joyous news that our Spanish teacher, Claire Schroettner, and her husband are expecting their first baby in late February! We are very excited to add another member to the St. Charles family. We've made fantastic gains in Spanish and we expect to keep the momentum going in 2019. We're looking for a long-term substitute teacher who will oversee Spanish for about six weeks in late February and March until Ms. Schroettner returns from maternity leave. If you know someone who might be interested please email me. Please keep the expectant parents in your prayers!

Lockdown Drill:  We will conduct a lockdown drill on Monday, Dec. 17th. Just as we practice fire drills on a regular basis, we also want to practice other emergency procedures to help eliminate any confusion by students, staff, and guests that are in the building. Teachers have been discussing our lockdown procedure with students so that we will be ready on Monday. I have asked Hartland Police Department to be present so that they are aware of our lockdown drill/procedures and to provide helpful feedback in any areas that need improvement.

Mom=E2=80=99s Gift Exchange: A big shout out and thank you to Erin Plas for her work coordinating the Mom=E2=80=99s Gift Exchange hosted by the Home and School Association. It was a terrific turnout and gave moms a chance to connect with meet parents new to the school. Thank you for all your work on this wonderful get together!

Reconciliation:  As we are preparing our minds and our hearts during this Advent season, students in Grades 3 through 8 will have the opportunity to take part in the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Friday, Dec. 14th. We are very blessed to have seven priests available to hear confessions from students.

Sock Drive:  Our St. Charles Student Council has chosen to work with the Hope Center in Waukesha and are coordinating a Sock Drive. New socks are being collected now through Wednesday, Dec. 19th. All students that donate a pair of new socks will be able to participate in the Ugly Sweater/Crazy Sock Dress Down Day on Wednesday, Dec. 19th. Students can donate socks to their classroom and student council reps will pick them up or they can drop them off in the bin outside of the School Office. Thank you so much for supporting this service project and our mission to help others.

Re-Enrollment Begins Saturday: We are nearing re-enrollment time for the 2019-2020 School Year. On Saturday, Dec. 15th, you will receive an email notice to enroll your child for the 2019-2020 School Year. We want to make sure you are able to reserve your spot now as we will open enrollment to all new families starting Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019.

Rosary Group: Please join us on Wednesday, Dec. 19th at 8:30 am in the Life Teen Cafe for Rosary Group. We are eagerly looking forward to getting together to intentionally pray for our students, families and school.  Headed up by school parent Louise Morris, all parents/guardians are welcome to join in prayer. No experience necessary. Whether you are experienced in the rosary or have never prayed the rosary before, all are welcome to come together. Prayer sheets and rosaries will be provided.

Recess Help: We're looking for recess help for the remainder of the school year. As you may have heard, Ms. Olga Jimenez, one of our longtime recess monitors, is officially retiring Friday and we are in need of an extra set of eyes on the playground. If you have an hour to spare (11:55 am - 12:55 pm) and would like to hang out on the playground with our kiddos, please email me. Thank you to Mrs. Cavanaugh, Mrs. Randa, and Mrs. Sweeney for volunteering to help out next week!

Following His plan,
Mr. Garvey
