Nov. 9, 2018

The Weekly Rundown

MISSION STATEMENT: St. Charles Parish School in Hartland, Wisconsin nourishes and grows a vibrant Catholic community committed to innovation, responsiveness and compassion as it prepares and challenges students in their intellectual, spiritual and moral lives.

Parents and Students,

It was a great first day of Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences on Thursday and I'm looking forward to seeing more families on Friday during conferences and discussing all of the great things happening in our classrooms and school! Please make sure students are present as this is all about them (also, we take attendance). Friday's conferences run from 7:30 am to 12 pm.

A few other highlights from the week:

8th Grade Volleyball:  We had two outstanding teams play in the Seton Volleyball Championship this  year and our Volleyball Coordinator John Grogan captured the matches perfectly in this end-of-the-season wrap up. Take a minute or two to read about it here.

Rosary Group:  I'm very excited to announce the formation of a parent Rosary group that meets on Wednesday mornings (monthly to start) from 8:30 am to 8:50 am to pray for the students, staff, parents and community of St. Charles. Headed by parent Louise Morris, all parents, guardians, grandparents and family members are welcome to join in prayer. No experience necessary! Whether you are experienced in prayer, know the rosary but it has been a while since you said it regularly or you have never prayed the rosary before ... ALL are welcome to come together. Prayer sheets and rosaries will be provided. More information to come with a specific start date, schedule and location.

Other Prayer Opportunities: The Traveling Rosary Shrine is ready to be welcomed into your home! The family hosting the shrine is asked to say the rosary daily in their home. This is a beautiful way to honor our Blessed Mother and recite the rosary with your children. If you would like to sign up for a week-long visit click here. The traveling shrine enters your home on a Wednesday and you pass it onto another family the following Wednesday. Lots of families are interested in hosting the shrine and we do have a number of weeks already filled.

Prayer Pages Sent Home: This week Prayer Pages were sent home with each student. This is a wonderful resource presented by the Home and School Association. The front side is filled with prayers of thanksgiving and gratitude, prayers to Our Lady and prayers before meals, among others. The back side is a tutorial on how to say the rosary. Each month a new Prayer Page will be sent home in hopes that this will encourage families to pray more together. Please take time to read the cover letter that was sent home and learn more about this helpful tool. Classes will also say the prayers here at school. Thank you to the Home and School Association for spiritually feeding our families!

Following His plan,
Mr. Garvey
