Parent Wellness Circles begin Monday, Oct. 8! This program is curriculum-based and focuses on understanding our parenting style and how to take care of ourselves in heart, mind, soul and strength in order to be the best parents we can be. This program will be held at St. Charles Parish School but is open to the public as community outreach through REDgen so please share with your family and friends.

Volunteer Opportunities: Sign-ups for a variety of volunteer jobs for the 2018-2019 School Year are now available. Please take a few minutes to peruse all the opportunities by visiting this link. Parents with students in 5K through 8th Grade are asked to perform 40 hours of service, parents with students in 4K are asked to perform 20 hours and parents with students in 3K are asked to perform 10 hours.

And we continue to be in need of help in the lunch room  and the health room .

One Last Note: We will need parent volunteers to help with Fish Fry Dinners during the month of March 2019. These are evening hours that run from about 4 pm to 7:30 pm every Friday in March and the first week of April. Again, these are good slots for parents looking for evening hours. We'll let you know when sign-ups are available. 

Donate to the Soles Walk And Keep St. Charles Accessible And Affordable: Did you know that approximately $35,000 in tuition assistance is awarded at St. Charles each year?  This money makes a Catholic education possible for more than a dozen of our school families.
 
All donations made to the Soles Walk stay right here to help fund these awards. If you would like to donate, please visit www.catholicschoolswalk.org or send a check to the school or parish offices payable to =E2=80=9CSt. Charles=E2=80=9D with =E2=80=9CSoles Walk=E2=80=9D in the memo line. 
 
Students at St. Charles whose families donate $100 or more have the chance to win great prizes in our weekly raffle. We pull a name every Friday morning and the winner receives a surprise gift. 

The Penny Wars competition is off to a roaring start. Check out the jars outside the School Office and see which class is in the lead. Everyone can spare some change for our Penny Wars. Just be sure to get your change in before 3:30 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Every dollar helps, so please be generous.

We're still collecting all types and sizes of gently-used shoes for the Society of St. Vincent de
Paul. Rubberband the shoes together and leave them in the boxes set up at church and school.

Trivia Night Is Back: Grab friends and create a team for the annual Trivia Night at St. Charles on Saturday, Nov. 17. If you've never attended this signature event you must try it this year. Loads of fun and laughter and some very tough questions. It's a great way to meet other parents and parishioners while raising money for the school. There are perks if you register before Nov. 1. Catechesis Of The Good Shepherd: Space is available in the Catechesis of the Good Sheperd (CGS) program which is new to St. Charles this fall. CGS is a beautiful, Montessori-based religious education program for children in Grades 3K-5K (though students need not be regularly enrolled in a school to participate). Children in this program tend to experience a joy and an increasing interest in their faith (especially during the Mass). 
 
The session runs from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm on Thursday evenings (about three times each month) and begins with a parent orientation on Oct. 18th. Cost is $110 per child. Please let us know if the cost is a concern.

Homework Club Begins Monday, Oct. 1: Homework Club starts at 3:25 pm and ends at 4:15 pm on most Mondays. Middle school students work with students in lower grades on homework or educational games. General Mills Box Tops For Education Fundraiser: Send in those Box Tops by Oct. 15 so we can get them counted and sent to General Mills by the Nov. 1 deadline. This is an easy fundraiser so we hope all of our families take part in it. Just buy your normal products, clip the box tops and send them to school. We'll handle the rest. Please give Box Tops to your child's teacher or drop them in the School Office.

Catholic Memorial High School Open House: All prospective families are invited to visit CMH and see why You Rise at Catholic Memorial on Sunday, Oct. 21. Mass is at 10 am and the Open House is from 11 am to 2 pm. Meet teachers, coaches, current students and parents, tour the school, learn about CMH curriculum, transportation to CMH and financial pathways to a CMH education. Girls Night In At DSHA: Girls in Grades 6th - 8th are invited to a special behind-the-scenes look at DSHA=E2=80=99s theatre program before the Saturday, Nov. 3^rd performance of Les Mis=C3=A9rables! A tour of the theatre and a Q&A with the Drama Club will precede dinner and the performance. Admission to the show is free for student attendees.

Fundraiser For Local Pediatrician: Brian Yagoda was an avid bicyclist, loving father and husband and a parishioner at St. Anthony on the Lake. He passed away in June after being struck by a car while riding on local Delafield roads. Brian's wife Shirley has created a fund in his name to make local roads safer for bikers. The goal is to raise $80,000 to broaden the shoulders along the roads of Delafield. There is a fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 1 to 5 pm at Wine Maniacs in Oconomowoc. Tickets are $35 or $45 at the door. Purchase tickets here.
