THE WEEKLY RUNDOWN
August 2, 2018

The Weekly Rundown -- Summer Edition

Keep enjoying summer because there is plenty more vacation left but we want to share information about the 2018-2019 School Year with all our school families.

Back-to-School Forms

Forms will be available early next week. An email will be sent linking to the forms which will also be on the school web site. Some forms are electronic and will be completed online and other forms need to be printed and dropped off in the School Office. We kindly ask that all forms be completed and dropped off by Friday,  Aug. 17. The School Office is open from 9 am to 2 pm each weekday. If the School Office is closed there will be a tray outside the office to drop the paperwork.

School Supplies
If you're ready to shop for school supplies the list is here. All supplies will be dropped off to your child's class on Monday, Aug. 27 during the Meet and Greet. Read more about the Meet and Greet here.

Uniforms
Students can wear blue or khaki pants or plaid skirts with red, white and blue polos. The polos must not have any logos on them. Blue or khaki shorts are allowed until Oct. 15 but we kindly ask that shorts not be worn on Mass days. Many parents have luck finding these clothing items at Lands' End, Old Navy, Target and Kohl's. For more specifics on the Dress Code visit this link.

For the plaid skirts and jumpers please visit this link on the Lands' End web site. The color is Evergreen/White Plaid. For future reference the school code on the Lands' End web site is 900140401. This will take you to the web site with the skirt and then you enter the Evergreen/White Plaid color.

This is the link for the jumper. The color is Evergreen/White Plaid.  Please note that skirts and jumpers are on sale through Monday, Aug. 6.

*** New this year is a Facebook uniform exchange where parents can buy and sell clothes. There will not be a Used Uniform Sale this summer at the school as we've decided to try the Facebook page and encourage sales between families. Feel free to buy and sell items through the Facebook page. Payments are coordinated between the seller and buyer. This is the link to the Facebook page. Happy Shopping!

And speaking of shopping, this weekend is a tax-free weekend when buying school supplies and clothes which makes it a great time to shop. Learn more about the tax-free weekend here.

Class Lists
The class lists for each grade will be sent by email by the end of the day on Friday, Aug. 24. At that time students and parents will find out their teachers for the 2018-2019 School Year.

Wee Know After School Care
If you're interested in after school care from 3:25 pm to 6 pm each weekday please click here and read the information from Wee Know School. The after school program is a popular choice for many of our parents. Wee Know also provides after school care on Early Release Days.

School Supply Donations
As you're gathering supplies for your children for the coming year we ask that you consider making a donation to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Deacon Allen Olson from St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in North Lake and the former religion and music teacher at St. Charles Parish School, takes supplies to Red Cloud Catholic School each year. Pine Ridge is the poorest Indian reservation in the United States. Read more about the program here. Drop off supplies in the narthex of the church. Thank you for your generosity!

Fall Fest News

Mark your calendars for Sept. 7-9 for the St. Charles Fall Fest, a three-day festival with food, music, games and rides and fun for the entire family. Save the Date now and spend the weekend at St. Charles!

* Do you typically volunteer at Fall Fest with a group of your friends or family? Would you like to volunteer with a group? This year Fall Fest organizers are offering early sign up to groups that can fill an entire shift (typically 6 to 10 or more volunteers) such as a group of food servers, bartenders, beer angels, parking lot attendants, etc.

Start getting your group together and think about what shift you would like to take. Please email Volunteer Coordinator Jane Walloch if you are interested in helping.

* Fall Fest Talent ShowCalling all entertainers! Get ready to perform during the Fall Fest Talent Show. The Talent Show/Competition is Saturday, Sept. 8 from 1 pm to 3 pm in the Cabana. Dr. Aaron Mathews, Director of Liturgical Music at St. Charles, will serve as judge along with others soon to be announced. A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the winner. Get your acts ready and stay tuned for more details!

* Fall Fest Basket Raffle Needs Your Help
We're hoping school families can help fill the many Raffle Baskets that will be raffled off during Fall Fest.
The Basket Raffle is a significant and important part of the festival.

We are looking for donations and items that can go into themed baskets. The Room Moms for each class were given the theme for their class basket and that information should have been sent to the families in that class. If you haven't heard from your Room Moms on your class theme please reach out to those moms or call the School Office at 262-367-2040.

Drop off items for the baskets to the Parish Office by Monday, Aug. 27. We hope to have all school families contribute to this very easy fundraiser.

The items will then be placed in baskets which will be wrapped up and put on display at Fall Fest beginning Friday, Sept. 7. The winning tickets for each basket will be pulled on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 9. Winners need not be present.

Basket Raffle organizers are also in need of large baskets so if you have any to donate please drop them off to the Parish Office. Cellophane wrap and other filler materials for the baskets are also in need.

For questions please call Laurie DeAngelis, Basket Raffle Coordinator, at 414-881-9231 or email laurieldeangelis@gmail.com. Thank you in advance for donating toward this important fundraiser!
