THE WEEKLY RUNDOWN
January 23, 2020

MISSION STATEMENT: St. Charles Parish School in Hartland, Wisconsin nourishes and grows a vibrant Catholic community committed to innovation, responsiveness and compassion as it prepares and challenges students in their intellectual, spiritual and moral lives.

Parents and Students,

We have a very fun and exciting week planned for Catholic Schools Week next week! This is a wonderful time that allows us to come together to share in the joy of Catholic education and celebrate all of our blessings. Be sure to read through the schedule here. Please note the change on Tuesday, January 28; all middle school students must be in uniform for Mass at Catholic Memorial. Thank you for choosing St. Charles Parish School and Catholic education. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Following His plan,
Mr. Garvey
WHAT'S NEW?
Open House: Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped make Open House a success! We had nearly twenty families tour St. Charles on Sunday and have received many applications for new students for the 2020-2021 school year. Thank you to Elly Beede, Alicia Dougherty, Amy Galati, Nadia Hadler, Denise Hearden, Christina Holmes, Julie Kirby, Brandy Kukurba, Liz Mrugacz, Patrice Seibel, and Sarah and Ryan Trapp for helping us welcome future St. Charles families!

Staff Breakfast Assistance: The Home and School Association's Hospitality Committee will be putting together a small breakfast for teachers on Monday, January 27 for Catholic Schools Week. If you are interested in helping provide breakfast, please click here for more information and to sign up.

NEWS AND NOTES

Inclement Weather: As we head into the winter months, we want to make sure that we are prepared for any inclement weather that heads our way. We will follow the Arrowhead School District. If they close due to snow or cold, we will also close. Please make sure to check the local news channels and apps for closings, as well as our school website. In the event that the school needs to be closed, we will send out an email to all parents. If St. Charles does not close due to a weather-related situation and you feel travel to school is not safe, you reserve the right as a parent to keep your child home for any reason you feel is necessary. One quick note to mention: please keep an extra pair of pants in your student's backpack and/or boot bag. We want to make sure students have a backup pair in case they get wet during recess.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Home & School Association: Our HSA needs you! Our Home & School Association (HSA) oversees fundraising and social activities at school such as the Dress Down Pass sales, New Family Ice Cream Social, Dine Out nights, Trunk or Treat, and the Father/Daughter Dance. We also work together to ensure we have volunteers to help with school projects. We need parents to help fill the HSA positions that will be opening in the next year. Many of our parents have children in 7th and 8th grade and will be leaving the group, so we'd love to bring some new parents aboard to learn the ropes before our veterans head off to help with high schools! Our open positions are: VP Community & School Services shadow, School Commission Liaison, and President Elect for 2020-2021. For additional information, please click here. If you are interested, please reach out to Kristin Walsh, Alicia Dougherty, or any other HSA member!

Auction Volunteer Opportunities: Are you interested in volunteering at our Great Gatsby Gala on February 22? We are in need of wine pull volunteers from 5-7 p.m. and 9-10 p.m. as well as volunteers to greet guests from 5-7 p.m. Click here to sign up!

Health Room Help: If you are in need of volunteer hours, we would love your help in the health room! Please click here to sign up. No experience necessary!
