5th Grade Teacher

BA in Elementary Education and Special Education, Winona State University

Ever since I was a little girl, I always knew that I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I saw my friends waiver on their designated career choices, but I always stood firm on my decision to become a teacher. Pretending to play in my basement carved out a lifelong dream for me! I come from an extremely close-knit family where Catholic values and beliefs are regarded with great importance. I was very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to attend Catholic schools as a child. Catholic education was very important to my parents, and the wonderful experiences I had at school made me the person that I am today and gave me the faith to carry out my childhood dream of being a teacher.

I have just begun my 20th year of teaching 5th Grade and living my dream. Each class of students teaches me new things on a regular basis, and I love every minute of it. Some days are definitely more challenging than others, but I would not have it any other way. All children are capable of achieving their goals and dreams — I have definitely achieved one of mine.

What I like most about our school community is the family-like atmosphere from both the staff and school families. The staff has seen me grow up over the past twenty years, and they have become part of my extended family. From the minute I step foot in the door every morning to the minute I leave, I feel supported.
